GROUND BREAKING JUDGEMENT at Jinja HIGH COURT
Six years ago I petitioned at the Constitutional, later I was advised to file a petition at the Ugandan Parliament, calling on the Ugandan Government to criminalize Marital Rape. Without any legal aid or legal background I was my own lawyer for all the 5years and 11months. I urged my case out. I have been going to court every after 2months.
This morning 4 out of 5 judges voted in fair of criminalizing Marital rape in Uganda.
Marital Rape also known as spousal rape, is non-consensual sex in which the perpetrator is the victim’s spouse. It is a form of partner rape, of domestic violence, and of sexual abuse.
This is a very historical achievement and it will good down in the books that I contributed to making wives and girlfriends more safe in their marriages.
I have to thank God for this achievement.
